Gustaf-Gründgens-Platz | Kö-Bogen II, Dusseldorf
The Dusseldorf Schauspielhaus on Gustaf-Gründgens-Platz has been renovated and modernized, bringing fresh splendor to the city. The new SHADOW LIGHTS by Hess, a novel lighting design, also transforms the plaza into a stage, staging it as it were with shadow and light.
The new Kö-Bogen II business and office building, which frames the newly constructed Gustaf-Gründgens-Platz and boasts a distinctive façade of hornbeam hedges, completes the stunning ensemble.
The goal of the makeover was to turn the square into a beautiful, energetic space that would benefit the entire city and honor its unique function as an entrance to the theater. Due to these needs, a lighting design was created that uses the public realm as a stage for metropolitan Dusseldorf life at night.
